Sometimes we know before we’re ready to. We resist that realization, trying to delay the inevitable. Augusta’s new single is about just that: willfully not seeing what we don’t want to see and all the pain that entails. The singer-songwriter recorded “No Coward” in an uncomplicated way in an effort to simplify an otherwise confusing feeling.
Augusta has played No Coward live for a while now; both while opening for Tom Rosenthal and on tour supporting Black Sea Dahu. She feels that it's the right time to share it with you officially, which is kind of fitting for a song about waiting until it feels right.
lyrics
I missed the late-night bus, I simply watched it go
The driver waved I, headed home
I’m not leaving this time, though I try to, change my mind
I’m not leaving this place, watch as I stay
Oh, I’m no coward I, just know what this is about
Oh, I’m no coward oh, I’m listening, I’m listening now
Some things I’d rather not know, places I’d rather, not go
I’ll settle down to, hear you out though
Oh, I’m no coward I, just know what this is about
Oh, I’m no coward oh, I’m listening, I’m listening now
And I’ll stand still and wait, I will, ‘till all is said and done
I just know love, I know how it goes
I’ll stand here, should it mean, I stand alone
Oh, I’m no coward I, just know what this is about
Oh, I’m no coward oh, I’m listening, I’m listening now
Oh, I’m no coward I, just know what this is about
Oh, I’m no coward oh, I’m listening, I’m listening now
